Jennifer Bridges
My name is Jen, and I am a groomer and owner of Diamonds in the Ruff as of August 2019. I groom both dogs and cats and started grooming at Diamonds in the Ruff in 2012. I am a single mom of a 14 yr old boy, Zac, and we live in West Olive, Michigan. I have a Pomeranian chihuahua mix named Jasper, and two cats, Moonlight (Moon) and Supernova(Nova).
I started working at Diamonds in the Ruff when I was a teenager, bathing dogs for my mom Karen and Aunt Cynthia who are also groomers here. I also loved animals and always thought I would end up in a career that was animal-related. After high school, I wanted to be a hairstylist but found that while in school I enjoyed working with animals more. I have to say that making the career change to grooming was the best decision I have made. I love going to work each day and getting to know the customers that come into the shop and creating bonds with the animals I groom. I enjoy my job and always look forward to meeting new customers and their dogs. Updated 6/24.
Karen Hettinger
Hi, my name is Karen. I am married, a mother of 3, and a grandma of 5 beautiful grandchildren. I worked in restaurant management for 7 years, and then worked at a pet store where I met Stacy and Nancy, whom first opened Diamonds in the Ruff. I was asked to join Diamonds in the Ruff Pet Grooming in October of 1996 and have been grooming ever since. I have also groomed part-time at two vet clinics, which was fun since as a child I wanted to be a Veterinarian.
I groom both cats and dogs and have a close relationship with many of my furry little friends and their families.
I currently have 2 covid babies, 3 yr old chihuahuas, Mary Ann and Piper, and an 8 yr old cat named Simon. Updated 06/24.
Cynthia Herweyer
Hi, my name is Cynthia. I have been an animal lover since a very young age. I got my first pony at age 10 and my first dog at age 12. I joined 4-H and showed horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and goats. My sister was a dog groomer and taught me how to groom my cocker spaniel at age 16. I worked at a dog kennel when I was 18 and loved it. When I was 28, I had a chance to start working at a kennel and the owner also taught me how to groom. I have been grooming ever since and love working with animals.
I currently have 3 goats, 3 horses, 9 chickens, 3 rabbits, 1 guinea pigs, 4 cats, and my 2 lovely border collies, Grace and Ezra. I do agility, nose work, and musical freestyle with my dogs. To me I have the best job, I get to meet people, groom dogs, and build a relationship with their owners. I feel very blessed to be able to do this. Updated 6/24.
